Do you want to see living history? If so, our Purple timetable days are the perfect way to experience this in action as our Class 207 DEMU 1317 trundles through the stunning High Weald countryside, just like it used to back in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
Affectionately known as a ‘Thumper’ because of the distinctive sound from its 650hp engine, 1317 was once a regular part of the British Rail train service between Tunbridge Wells Central and Eridge running right up to the day the line between these stations closed on Saturday 6th July 1985. Now, 40 years later you can be part of history by travelling on the beautifully restored unit on a line it was built to work on.
